you will still need parallels on the MAC to run this.

There is a MAC RIP offered by Roland - Roland Print Studio

it costs $1100 though. I would opt for a cheap windows laptop to run Versaworks Dual for free and save half the money :)

Versaworks On Mac

Do you know of anyone using Affinity Designer to do graphic design to make stickers/heat transfers, use print/cut technology on versacamm with versa works?

I have a Mac, Use Affinity Design, I don't use corel draw or illustrator. But I can figure out how to use Affinity design make image and then get it to Versa Works.

I only have a mac, but am thinking about buying a pc, before I buy print/cutter. Maybe I need to use CorelDaw?

Sorry for the slow response. I unfortunately am not familiar with that design software and will not be able to assist. I would recommend reaching out to your printer dealer to see if they can help or possibly to the software company for affinity.

Right, actually bought printstudio and was extremely displeased, no reviews out there or demos so bought with blind faith, almost no profiles come with it for my printer, and versaworks just works for me, in the process off trying to get my money back to just buy a pc.

Versaworks For Mac

From what I saw, Affinity can:

-Handle vectors

-Handle spot colors

-Export as EPS

If your program can do that - then make a spot color named CutContour (exactly); add it to your graph where you want it to cut, export it as an EPS and bring it into VW, if you see marching ants then you are in business.

Thanks Irving, Yeah thats what I can tell. It is a vector based design software, Can do spot colors, Export as EPS, so thought it would work.

This is a 2 part question... sort of!
I've been running my VersaWorks on my Mac (using Fusion with Windows XP loaded). I'm having issues with LONG print times on large, complex banners. My supplier suspects that perhaps data is slowing down when coming out of Windows via the Mac (through Fusion). Small jobs print great, but on the larger ones, the heads are pausing way too much... it took me 6 HOURS to print a 4' x 10' print last week Does anyone have an opinion on this? Could going through Fusion slow down the data transfer? My supplier also suggested I try hooking my Roland up directly to my Mac with a crossover network cable instead of going through my office network.
The second part is... what would you recommend for a PC system just as a stand-alone RIP to run the SP540v? I haven't bought a PC in almost 10 years and don't know their configurations today. I'm just wondering what I should look at as a decent system to act as a RIP if this should be a solution to my slow printing problem.
Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.
